5/10 CHSL Finals and 5/14/25 MHSAA Regionals

At Catholic Leagues Saturday 5/10 -   I dont have our total place - they have not updated results on tennis reporting yet
1 singles - Madelyn Demura won the consolation backdraw
2 Singles - Amelia Morgulec - Took 4th place
3 Singles - Bridget Gilbert - won the consolation backdraw
4 singles - Aly Kelley - lost in consolation backdraw
 
1 Doubles - Elysia Youkhanna and Kennedy Cerne - Won consolation backdraw
2 Doubles - Sophia Kozadinos and Grace Leong - Won consolation backdraw
3 Doubles - Leah McCulloch and Rachel Pryjma - 4th place
4 Doubles - Sophia Moceri and Charlotte Grems - won consolation backdraw
 
Regionals - 5/14
 
This was a tough region and we got 4 points
 
1 singles - Madelyn Demura Played a hard match against Liggett - Losing in the first round to the eventual runner up (6-1, 6-0)
2 singles - Amelia Morgulec had a tough draw and lost in the first round to Sacred Heart (6-0, 6-4)
3 Singles - Bridget Gilbert fighting through and illness lost in the first round losing to Clawson (6-3, 6-2)
4 singles - Aly Kelley won her first round upsetting second seed Algonac (6-4, 7-5) losing in the semifinals to Academy of the Sacred Heart (7-5, 6-2)
 
1 Doubles - Elysia Youkhanna and Kennedy Cerne won their first round against Sacred Heart in a 3 set match (6-1, 6-7, 6-3) and losing Notre Dame Prep the eventual champion ( 6-1, 6-0)
2 Doubles - Lost in a tough three set first round match against Armada (6-3, 54-6, 6-3) 
3 Doubles - Leah McCulloch and Rachel PryjmaWon their first round match against Armada (7-6, 6-3) losing in the semifinals to Algonac in a close match (7-6, 6-4)
4 Doubles - Sophia Moceri and Charlotte Grems - won their first round match against Clawson (7-5, 6-2) and lost in the semifinals against Notre Dame Prep (6-0, 6-0) 

5/12/25 results vs FJA - Senior Night (7-1 win)

5/12 - Jewish Academy - Senior night 
 
Bishop Foley defeated Jewish Academy 7-1 to take 1st place in the intersectional 2 league.  
In a close match Maddie Demura narrowly lost 7-6, 4-6 to a tough 1st singles player.  At two singles Amelia Morgulec took an early lead winning the first set 6-4 and was up in the second 3-0 when her opponent had to retire due to an injury.  At 3 singles Bridget Gilbert won 6-1, 6-3 and Aly Kelley won at 4 singles 6-0, 6-1.  All doubles courts were defaulted by Jewish Academy.

The Bishop Foley Tennis team played a tough Royal Oak High School team alling 0-8.  Aly Kelley had two close sets at 4 singles with a score of 4-6, 5-7, at 1 Doubles Kennedy Cerne and Elysia Youkhanna fought back from a 3-6 first set loss to win the second 6-0 only losing in a close super tiebreaker and Rachel Pryma and Leah McCulloch at 3 doubles also split sets and had a tough super tiebreaker.  The team will compete in the CHSL Cardinal Championship Tournament Tomorrow at Regina High School and Maccomb Community College courts with play starting at 9am and continuing throughout the day

Foley Varsity tennis lost to Academy of the Sacred Heart 2-6.  Seniors Sophia Kozadinos and Grace Leong fought hard at 2 Doubles winning the first set 6-3, losing the second 0-6 but pulling off the win 10-8 in the super tiebreaker.  3 Doubles Leah McCulloch and Rachel Pryma won in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.

Last night the varsity tennis team took on their first league match against Riverview Gabriel Richard sweeping all courts in straight sets to win 8-0.  Starting at 1 singles, Maddie Demura won 6-4, 6-1 with her dominating serve.  At 2 singles Amelia Morgulec played a controlled game coming to the net for point ending volleys to win 6-2, 6-3.  At 3 singles Bridget Gilbert was serving up bagels winning 6-0, 6-0.  Finally filling in at 4 singles last minute Jasmine Flood put forth maximum effort to win 6-2, 6-2.  In doubles action the 1 doubles team of Elysia Youkhanna and Kennedy Cerne had strong net play and great movement on the court to win 6-2, 6-4.  At 2 doubles Sophia Kozadinos and Grace Leong won 6-3, 6-4  with great communication and strong volleys.  Rachel Pryjma and Leah McCulloch played hard points to win 6-4, 6-2 at 3 doubles.  Finally the 4 doubles team of Charlotte Grems and Sophia Moceri were aggressive at net to take the win 6-3, 6-1.  Great Job ladies.

Foley tennis defeated Liggett 5-3.  Despite a strong singles lineup Foley was able to win all doubles and 4 singles in close matches.  4 singles Aly Kelley was able to fight back from a set down to win the second set and match tiebreaker to secure the team win.  One doubles Kennedy Cerne and Elysia Youkhanna dominated, winning 6-3, 6-2. At 2 doubles Grace Leong and Sophia Kozadinos battled through a first set win, second set loss but pulled it out in the match tiebreaker with a score of  6-1,  4-6, 14-12.  Three doubles Leah McColluch and Rachel Pryma dominating in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 and at 4 doubles Sophia Moceri and Charlotte Grems pulled off a win in another close match tiebreaker with a score 6-3, 4-6, 11-9.  In the 5th doubles match Emmerson Arakelilan and Jasmine Flood won their pro set dropping only one game (8-1).  Congratulations on the win.

Foley varsity tennis played a tough match against Shrine yesterday losing 3-5.  Maddie Demura  had a dominating win at 1 singles winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.  2 singles Ameila Morgulec, 3 singles Bridget Gilbert and 4 singles Charlotte Grems all played hard but fell to shrine at 2, 3 and 4 singles respectively.  In doubles action, 1 doubles Elysia Youhanna and sub Jasmine Flood fought hard but fell to the Shrine team 3 -6, 2-6.  2 Doubles Grace Leong and Sophia Kozadinos got off to a slow start but improved throughout the match, making is a close second set losing 0-6, 5-7.  3 doubles Rachel Pryjma and Leah McCulloch had a close first set and dominated the second to win 7-5, 6-1.  4 doubles Aly Kelley and Sophia Moceri played hard to win 6-4, 6-2.  At 5 doubles Abby Krawczak and Emmerson Arakelian won their set 8-5.  Congratulations on a great match ladies.

Varsity tennis took on a very strong St Catherine team Thursday 4/3.  Despite good points and close games at all courts the ventures fell 1-7.  They will be playing in their first league division match Tuesday 4/8 at home against Jewish Academy.

The varsity tennis team tied Divine Child 4-4 at their opening tennis match yesterday.  Every match was very close with several tiebreakers played.  1 doubles Elysia Youkhanna and Kennedy cerne played hard losing in a close third set tiebreaker. Aly Kelly and Sophia Moceri won their match taking the first set in a tiebreaker but dominating the second set at 4 doubles, 3 Doubles Leah McCulloch and Rachel Pryjma won both sets in close tiebreaker, and 2 Doubles Sophia Kozadinos and Grace Leong won in straight sets.  Finally in a hard fought two and a half hour match Bridget Gilbert persevered through two tough sets, both going to a tiebreaker and a third set tiebreaker to win the match and get the tie. Congratulations – they play again3/28/25 at Regina at 4pm.
